The region of Kuala Lumpur offers probably the best climbing sites of Malaysia. The sites are situated at the north of the city at the border of Selangor province. The name sites are Batu Caves and Bukit Takun, Temple Park (golf course). Batu Caves is in fact a small city where you can find a huge Indian temple, it is worth to see. The climbing is in fact on the immense peak of rock where temple is located. To get there from Kuala Lumpur take the train in direction of Batu Caves, the station of train is located about 4km from the cliff. Bukit Takun, Temple Park, is situated on the side of a golf course. To get there just take a cab from Batu Caves (7-8 km). The rock is limestone

This site is very interesting because it is situated at 12 km of the Thai border. It’s a very good alternative for the visa excursion. This site offer around 30 sport climb, they are in between 5 to 7b+. But most of the climbing is around 6a+. When you get there you could stay in the camping ground or get a bungalow. You will maybe have to pay a little fee to get access to the park, specialy in the weekend.

In several region you could find the possibilities to practice climbing. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm the quality of all those sites. I suggest you to check the following sites: Pulau Tioman, Pulau Perhentian, Penang and Gua Musang. All others sites it’s up to you to take the decision to go. If you don't wish to hit a badly organized cliff, kip yourself to the sites mentioned and remember that the not offer a lot of climb. The most developed places remain to be Batu Cellars and Perlis.
